Peter Alexander Jobson Releases New Song “Just ‘Cause I'm Dead”
Former British rock band I Am Kloot's bassist and Northumberland-based singer-songwriter Peter Alexander Jobson will release his debut solo album “Burn The Ration Books Of Love” on November 15, 2024.
From the album. he released a new song “Just ‘Cause I'm Dead” on October 2, 2024.
The song is the fourth single off of the album, following “Burn The Ration Books Of Love”, “Mountain” and “Please Please Please”.
The track was written by Peter Alexander Jobson, and produced by Ben Christophers. The accompanying music video was directed by James Edward Cook.
Peter Alexander Jobson said of the song, “This song is the imaginings of what comes after. I have lived so long in delusion that convincing myself I’ll still be around influencing things after my death comes very easy to me. I find this a hilarious, ridiculous and useful trait in my personality. I like the idea that none of us are really in control of what is coming and the tragic comedy that we may trip up into death and see it as an accidental inconvenience: 'I was only halfway through, I’d only got started in truth, there is so much more left to do'. The notion that to live is to constantly deny death to a greater or lesser degree is a powerful one. From various religions selling you the promise of the afterlife to reaching for that next cigarette; death's mastery does seem to hover about us all.”- The debut album comprises 11 songs, produced by Ben Christophers.
Peter Alexander Jobson said of the album, “‘Burn The Ration Books of Love’ is an album full of observations and reflections on the life choices I have made and the wages of the future dealt to me by those choices. I am passing on my experiences as I would if we were both sat together and the silence became unwelcome.”
When he was a little boy, Peter Alexander Jobson set his village on fire. For 40 years the cause of the blaze in the Northumberland fishing village of Alnmouth has remained a mystery to its 444 inhabitants.
Peter Alexander Jobson revealed the truth on the album. -
“I was 11 or 12, out cycling with an older kid I grew up with, and we’d gone to the shop to buy fags. We went to the sand dunes to smoke and were playing with matches. Next thing the dunes caught fire - then the golf course, and about two miles of the coast, a massive conflagration heading towards the village. We jumped on our bikes and pedalled as far as we could and as fast as we could to get away. Then we hid on the top of the hill overlooking the village and watched as half the village came to help put it out. We waited until it got dark fearing the worst - that we would be locked up or beaten by our parents. We almost burned the village down! And I’ve never told anyone before - not even my parents.”
