LU KALA Releases New Song “Criminal”
Congolese-Canadian singer-songwriter LU KALA released a new song “Criminal” on September 27, 2024 via LVK/Amigo Records.
The song is the follow-up to “Who's Gonna”, which was released back in May.
On the track, she co-wrote the song with American producer Łukasz Gottwald, aka Dr. Luke and Canadian producer Vaughn Oliver.
Both producers worked for American singer-songwriter Katy Perry's lates album “143”.
Also, LU KALA recently helped to write Katy Perry's next song.
Katy Perry said, “She helped me write one of my biggest songs that has yet to come out, but it's coming out.”
LU KALA added, “I was not expecting any of this, wow. Thank you Katy Perry for letting me be the tiniest part of what you have coming. I can't wait for the world to hear it.”
The track was written by Boy Matthews, Blake Straus, LUSAMBA VANESSA KALALA, Vaughn Oliver, and Łukasz Gottwald.
Produced by Blake Straus and Vaughn Oliver.- LU KALA told PAPER about the song, “'Criminal' is the very first song I wrote this year. I usually stay far away from anything '80s leaning, but this was the first time I chose to STFU and just go along with the vibe in the room. I remember free stylingwee-ooh, wee-ooh and everyone losing their minds and that moment is when I felt like 'Criminal' could really be something special.”
She continued, “This song feels different than what I've put out in the past. It feels sexy, a little edgy even. Everything I've done always has this pink sparkle on it, but I see hues of red and black and deeper colors when I think of 'Criminal.' This is essentially a LU KALA love song, or shall I say lust song?” -
