Geowulf Announces New Album “The Child”, Shares New Song “Memory Serves Like Lightning”
London-based singer-songwriter Star Kendrick, aka Geowulf has announced her first solo album “The Child” will be released on January 17, 2025 via Nettwerk.
The album is her first LP in six years since the 2019 album “My Resignation” and comprises 12 songs.
Originally, Geowulf was formed by Star Kendrick and Toma Banjanin as a duo in Australia. In 2022, she started Geowulf as her solo project after Toma Banjanin leaving the duo.
From the album, she released the fourth single called “Memory Serves Like Lightning” on September 27, 2024.
She co-wrote the song with producer Geoff Roberts.
Star Kendrick said of the song, “One of my favourite songs on the record, this song explores some of my feelings on mental health, PTSD, addiction, waiting for people to change & accepting things with they don't.”- “I feel like this album is my most personal lyrically - I'm talking about becoming a mum, as well as my own family,” Star Kendrick said of the album. “I've written a lot about heartbreak and relationships in the past, and I think on this album I finally found the space where I could tell more personal stories.”
She continue, “When I was writing about relationship stuff and romance, it was important, but it was also kind of a bandaid - was essentially distracting myself by writing about failures and f***boys.”
She added, “This album was a lot of me trying to work out what my new life would look like as a mother, and, through that, processing stuff from when I was a child.” - source : Apple Music
