  • Amyl and The Sniffers Releases New Song “Big Dreams”

  • Australian punk rock band Amyl and The Sniffers, consisting of Amy Taylor (vocals), Bryce Wilson (drums), Declan Martens (guitar) and Gus Romer (bass), released the third single called “Big Dreams” from their upcoming third studio album “Cartoon Darkness” on September 25, 2024.

The track was written by Amy Taylor and Declan Mehrtens. Produced by Nick Launay.
The accompanying music video was directed by John Angus Stewart, who filmed it in one-shot in the desert.

The band lead singer Amy Taylor said of the song, “I am writing this before “Big Dreams” comes out, and I am actually a bit nervous that it's a single, because it's so different from a lot of people's expectations of us. This song was written because a lot of people in my life are struggling financially, and it's really hard to make your dreams come true when you're trying to get by day-to-day. But when I think of my friends doing what they love, and I see how good they are at it, I just know they've never been dull, they've always been lit, and there's nothing that will break that or take it away from them.”

She added, “IThe video we shot in the desert, it was the first clip we shot for this album, and it was fun as hell.”
  • The band shared on social media, “'Success' is measured in such strange ways and sometimes if somethings not commercial its values stripped away making people feel like they havnt got it, but they do got it. 'Big Dreams' is about the passing of time, and seeing years go by with dreams feeling both closer and further from reality, and knowing you're meant for something more then sitting around some crap apartment in a place you dont want to be all life long. Wanting to get out and make something of yourself, but how hard that is to do especially when industries are kinda crumbling left right and centre. I got so many people in my life with so much talent, with or without audiences I just know they're lit ones and when I see them do what they do nothing could take that away, and their relentless pursuit of something bigger is what this songs for, because what the else f are we gonna do. because the smaller you start the thinner you have to stretch yourself to be big, and that shouldn't be under appreciated. But you've never been a dull one always been a lit one.”

  • The new album is set to be released on October 25, 2024 via Rough Trade Records.
It is their first album in three years since the 2021 album “Comfort to Me”.
The band recorded the album at Foo Fighters' 606 Studios in Los Angeles earlier this year.
The album comprises 13 tracks, produced by Nick Launay.

Amy Taylor said of the album, “Cartoon Darkness is about climate crisis, war, A.I., tiptoeing on the eggshells of politics, and people feeling like they're helping by having a voice online when we're all just feeding the data beast of Big Tech, our modern-day god.”
