  • Melissa Furlotte Returns with New Song “Virginia Creeper”

  • Montreal-based singer-songwriter Melissa Furlotte returned with a new song “Virginia Creeper” on September 19, 2024.

The song is her first music in three years since the 2021 debut album “Old Road”.
She recorded the song with collaborator and guitarist Joe Grass.
The instrumentation includes a warm toned antique converted player piano, recorded simultaneously to add to the song’s deeper meaning.

Melissa Furlotte said of the song, “It’s compelling to tell a human story through the relationship of a brick wall and a “tenacious vine,” even better when the music sets the scene; piano and guitar, cushioning chords and enveloping melody. Every layer has the relationship of two entities.”
  • She continued, “Ever since I’ve lived in my downtown, Montreal apartment, I’ve been intrigued with the view. I love seeing the vine covered brick wall of the neighboring cottages, through all its seasons. One day, I noticed that some of the bricks were breaking and were coming off the wall but the vine was holding them, preventing them from falling. At the same time the vine was supporting the bricks, it was also pulling on them. I began to think about my personal relationships.”
