  • Blossoms Premieres New Song “I Like Your Look” on BBC Radio 1

  • British alt-pop band Blossoms, consisting of Tom Ogden (lead vocals), Charlie Salt (bass), Josh Dewhurst (lead guitar), Joe Donovan (drums) and Myles Kellock (keyboards), premiered a new song “I Like Your Look” from their upcoming fifth studio album “Gary” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The new album is set to be released on September 20, 2024 and comprises a 10-track.
The band co-wrote the song with Irish singer-songwriter CMAT, who also co-produced the track and performed as background vocals.
The accompanying music video was directed by James Slater.

The band said of the song, “We wrote this song with CMAT in an AirBnB we rented in Anglesey last summer. Us 5 had planned to go away and write together for a bit of a reset, me and Ciara planned to write together and this was the only week she could do so she came along. After trying some lacklustre ideas, Ciara called everyone into the kitchen, gave everyone a book and told us to all start calling out potential song titles, we came upon ‘I Like Your Look’, we ran with ideas of a tongue in cheek look at fashion and some of the clobber we wear, with Blondies Rapture being mentioned as a sonic reference. Was such a great night writing this song, I hope you enjoy it.”
  • The band Tom Ogden told Jack Saunders about the song, “I think you should know. This song was co-written with an artist called CMAT in an Airbnb in Wales, in Anglesey, and she sings back in vocals on it. I made a lot of fun making it.”

He continued, “So we kind of, we were planning to go to this Airbnb and us five just go away, get a bit of a reset on the band. Ciara, we happen to be free that week. She came with us, and it wasn't quite, quite happening one night. And we got to about nine o'clock and was like, what we're working on is that working. Ciara got us all in the kitchen and went, right, everyone get a book and start shouting out song titles. So we were all like, the railway children, no, this and that, and then go on top. And Joe went, I liked your lot.”

  • He added, “I was like, that's a great name. It should be about fashion. It should be a tongue in cheek thing about the things we wear and all that kind of stuff. Jimmy's written very fast after that. And Joe, Josh and Charles went in the other room, started working on the beat and the tune, and then me and Ciara worked on, like, the melody and the hog. It was very collaborative and fun.”
