SKATELAND Releases New Song “Sunset Cinema”
Austin-based indie-pop singer-songwriter SKATELAND released a new song “Sunset Cinema” along with a music video on September 18, 2024.
The shimmery song is all about saying goodbye.
The track was written by and [roduced by Dorian Williams II, with production by 10pmtoclose nd Sef Sarwar.
The accompanying video was directed by Dorian Williams II.
SKATELAND said of the song, “I wrestle a lot with the tension of letting go and moving on, and that can be for something as big as ending a relationship, or as simple as throwing away a beat up old t-shirt. There's a romanticism to that idea which can be great, but the downside is that you can sometimes stay in something for longer than you should because you're hyper aware that when it's over it'll be gone for good.”- SKATELAND shared on social media, “It’s been almost 9 months since I’ve put out a song and that is NOT how I thought this year was going to go. Truth is I dealt with a lot this year. I got in my own way a bunch, let the opinions of others dictate my decisions, and frankly was just scared to do anything (so I ended up doing nothing).”
He continued, “Sunset Cinema is a personal triumph because it’s the first song I made in a long time where I sat down and said “what do YOU wanna hear?” instead of 'what do you think THEY’LL wanna hear?' and that was very freeing.” -
He added, “It wouldn’t exist without my wonderful friends and team who rallied around me and helped get everything finished in the span of like 5 days (I’m talking mixing, mastering, video shoot, photos, everything), which is a new course record for your boy. I love them dearly. Also my mom reminded me that a literal baby can be born in 9 months and then we both started crying I love her.”
