Joy Anonymous Premieres New Song “JOY (By My Side)” with Sammy Virji on BBC Radio 1
London-based electronic duo Joy Anonymous, consisting of Henry Counsell and Louis Curran, will release their upcoming mixtape “Joyous People (South East Corner)” this Friday (September 20).
The mixtape title refers to Glastonbury's iconic dance area.
From the mixtape, Joy Anonymous premiered a new song “JOY (By My Side)” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
This time, the duo teamed up with British DJ Sammy Virji on the track.
The track was written by Ayalew Mesfin Chuba, Benjamin Andrew Heard, Eamon Jonathan Doyle, Henry Counsell, Louis Curran, Sammy Virji, and Tobias Wincorn. Produced by Henry Counsell, Louis Curran, Sammy Virji, and Tobias Wincorn.
The duo told Jack Saunders about the song, “We basically were curating Glastonbury takeover. And we were like, Let's try and make some records to then play at Glastonbury, and that was kind of where it started. And then, we got in with Sammy and made this tune, and it just, we were like, Oh, this feels like, let's start something great. Let's try and make a mixtape with all the others and and then we added in, like Todd Edwards, we have a tune with him, and Reggie Watts, which is just a dream come true champion who also came on the lineup. And so that kind of formed the basis of the mixtape.”- The mixtape comprises a 5-track, featuring collaborations with Todd Edwards, Reggie Watts, Champion, Surya Sen, Messie and Sammy Virji.
The duo said of the mixtape, “It was a really fascinating process of just back and forth with people and different approaches, different Sonic ideas, and it's great. I feel like all the tunes do sound like fifty fifty, collaborations. You can hear everyone's kind of unique personality in each so, learnt a lot.” -
