  • Rhys Releases New Song “Heathrow”

  • Back in Mach, Swedish-American singer-songwriter Rhys returned with the single “Alice” as an independent artist for the first time in two years.

Following the song, she released a new song “Heathrow” on September 13, 2024.
Both songs will appear on her upcoming EP “Portland”, which is expected to be released this fall.
The new EP is her first project as an independent artist since the 2022 EP “Thanks a lot now I can't smile”.
The track was written by Beatrice Jaksch, Gabriel Pettersson, Rhys Frank, and Ruth Lindegren. Produced by Calle Johansson.

“It's taken straight from my own life,” Rhys said of the song. “It's about my very first relationship, I was 18 and head over heels with this guy. He was going places and in hindsight I was very much just a footnote in his journey. He broke up with me right before he went travelling, I was heartbroken.”

She continued, “Sometimes I think about what it'd be like if I ever saw him again, this song is really about feeling embarrassed that someone had to be on the receiving end of my youthful drama...”
  • Rhys debuted in 2016, and released the debut album “Stages” in 2018 via Warner Music Sweden.
The album racked up over 225 million streams.
But, despite the commercial success, Rhys found herself grappling with a sense of disillusionment, realising she had lost touch with her identity amidst the demands of the industry.
She decided to restart as an independent artist in a new journey on her own terms.

Rhys said, "Everything happened so fast. I wasn't ready for what I was about to experience. When I was signed, I wasn't even of legal age, so my mom had to sign the contracts... It took me three years to shed the weight of expectations and rediscover myself.”
