Puma June Releases New Song “Bad Habits”
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Puma June released her brand new single called “Bad Habits” on September 11, 2024.
The song is an unapologetic jazz and hip hop infused pop track and the themes explore the idea of bad habits being the internal battles like self-hatred and shedding trauma, rather than solely the traditional idea of bad habits.
The track was written and produced by Shanti Abbott, with production by Markov.
Puma June has already filmed a music video for the song, which will premiere on September 19, 2024.
The song will appear on her upcoming debut EP “A Woman That They Want”, which is expected to be released in 2024.
Puma June said of the song, “I hope you find your own meaning in this song, but I want to share what it means to me. I didn’t write it about the traditional idea of 'bad habits' like drinking or drugs or junk food. The idea for 'Bad Habits' came from my favourite quote from Persian poet Hafiz, 'the words you speak become the house you live in.”.- She continued, “The way we talk to ourselves - maybe it’s the victim complex that holds us back, how we belittle ourselves in our heads, let past trauma seep into our present - is the space we create for ourselves. Then we allow people into our lives that confirm that low self-worth. It’s about shedding that bullshit, changing your mindset, and freeing yourself from places/people that make you feel like you have to dim who you are.”
