Demi Lovato Releases New Song “You'll Be OK, Kid” from Original Documentary “Child Star”
American singer-songwriter Demi Lovato released a new song “You'll Be OK, Kid” from her upcoming documentary film “Child Star” on September 13, 2024.
Demi Lovato wrote the song for the film with American singer-songwriters Sasha Alex Sloan, Laura Veltz, and Atlanta and Los Angeles-based Turkish songwriter Warren 'Oak' Felder who also produced the track.
Demi Lovato said of the song, “Working on Child Star was a deeply reflective experience for me. It allowed me to deep dive into emotions from my childhood, while also connecting with others who had so many shared experiences.”
She continued, “As we were editing the film, I became very inspired to write a song. The idea of connecting with my younger self through the pain and hardships that came along with child stardom was so important to me. I wrote the song as a letter to my inner child, and I hope that it can give others an opportunity to connect with their inner child as well.”- The documentary film was co-directed by Demi Lovato and Nicola Marsh, and explores the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars and how their ascension to fame, riches, and power affects their futures.
The film features Demi Lovato, Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, JoJo Siwa, and Alyson Stoner. - Demi Lovato told Teen Vogue about the film, “While [Child Star is] a cautionary tale to some degree, it's also a form of self-exploration. Would things have turned out differently had I not been in the public eye? I don't know. And that's what I'm still learning.”
The film marks Demi Lovato's directorial debut and will be released on Hulu on September 17, 2024.
