  • Aly & AJ Returns with New Song “Sirens”

  • Los Angeles-based pop rock duo Aly & AJ, consisting of Alyson Michalka and Amanda Joy Michalka, returned with a new song “Sirens” on September 12, 2024.

The song is their first music since the 2023 album “With Love From“ and EP “Lonesome Dove”.
The track will appear on their upcoming album, which is expected to be released in 2025.
In 2022, the duo was caught in a mass shooting in downtown Sacramento, California, but they were safe, and their trailer was the only thing damaged by bullets and shrapnel.
However, six people were killed and twelve others were injured in the incident.
This time, the duo wrote the song through their experience and advocates for reinstating the Federal Assault Weapons Ban on the 20th anniversary of its expiration alongside non-profit March Fourth.
The track was written by AJ Michalka, Aly Michalka, and James McAlister. Produced by Jonathan Wilson.
The accompanying music video was directed by Stephen Ringer.
In the clip, James McAlister played drums and Jonathan Wilson played guitar.
  • Alyson Michalka told Rolling Stone, “We've always been very disturbed by the state of where we're at with gun violence in America and this personally made us even more impassioned to get involved and to do something about it. I think writing the song was really cathartic for the two of us.”

She added, “I know it's a hot topic politically, but it shouldn't be. It should be something that we can all speak about openly and rationally because it is something that affects everyone.”

  • Theduo shared on social media, “This September marks 20 years since the expiration of the assault weapons ban. It's well past time to reinstate it. As survivors of a mass shooting, we are proud to stand alongside March Fourth this week in DC to join the chorus of voices calling for change.”

They said of the song, “We wrote Sirens with our friend and beautiful human James McAlister who also played emax, drums, drum programming & gave additional production. For those who were at the last two shows, we also wrote Next to Nothing with him. Thank you for helping us find a way to write about and process this experience and for all your contributions to Silver Deliverer.”
