  • Fazerdaze Announces New Album “Soft Power”, Shares New Song “Cherry Pie”

  • New Zealand singer-songwriter Amelia Murray, aka Fazerdaze has announced her upcoming second studio album “Soft Power” will be released on November 15, 2024.

This marks her first album in seven years since the 2017 debut album “Morningside”.
Also, it is her first project since the 2022 EP “Break!”
The album comprises a 11-track, and Fazerdaze recorded and produced the majority alone.

Fazerdaze said of the album, “Welcome to 'Soft Power'. This is what I created during the darkest, loneliest, most tumultuous years of my life-entering womanhood, navigating the world, the music industry, and what I thought was love. In my scariest moments, this album was my anchor for hope, purpose and light. I am so relieved and content to finally share 'Soft Power' with you.”

She continued, “I wanted it to sound massive with a feminine twist on those rock records, carving out a space where women's perspectives shine through. What I was searching for in others was something I needed to rediscover in myself. I had placed the second album on such a pedestal, but reconnecting with my original process during Break! was the key to finishing this record.”
  • From the album, she released a new song “Cherry Pie” on September 10, 2024.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Bigger”.
The track was written by Amelia Murray, Gareth Thomas, and Leroy Clampitt. Produced by Aaron Short and Amelia Murray.

Fazerdaze said of the song, “'Cherry Pie' began as lyrics on my phone during my first overseas trip to LA almost ten years ago. Now, at 31, this song has journeyed with me through many different versions of myself.”

  • The accompanying music video was co-directed by Frances Carter and Amelia Murray.

Fazerdaze said of the video, “Frances and I crafted the video around a character who travels solo, letting go of what no longer serves her to finally take the wheel and steer into her next era.”

She added, “My biggest thank you to section1, NZ on Air, IOHYOU, Converge Management, Frances Carter and Erica McQueen. And of course thank you to the whole team that worked on this song and music video.”
