Shealagh Rose Returns with New Song “Radio Silence”
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Shealagh Rose returned with a new song “Radio Silence” on September 6, 2024.
This marks her first music in 8 years since the 2016 debut EP “Island”.
The song is the first single off of her upcoming sophomore EP, which is expected to be released in 2024.
The track came from a fallout with a friend where neither was speaking to each other.
Sonically, the track was purposefully written with gritty guitar, synth, pads and a more emotional vocal performance to encapture the feeling of an argument in the composition.
The track was written and produced by Shealagh Rose.
Shealagh Rose said of the song, “Now more than ever I’m sure we’ve all experienced that feeling of isolation, or feeling cut off from people; when efforts to reach out are met with an indifferent or brief response. Or even when it becomes too much that making the effort to reach out to people just becomes bothersome, leading to a vicious cycle.”- She continued, “I think some people may interpret [“Radio Silence”] to be about a romantic relationship ending, but I actually began writing this song during a time when a close friend and I weren’t speaking. It was after a big argument which was sparked over a series of small annoyances with each other. I had never experienced a falling out of a friendship like that before and felt horrible about the situation. It felt worse than a break up. If you’re curious, we thankfully made up and apologized and we’re still closer than ever!”
