Halsey Releases New Song “Ego”
American singer-songwriter Halsey released the fourth single called “Ego” from her upcoming fifth studio album “The Great Impersonator” on September 6, 2024.
The album is set to be released on October 25, 2024.
Halsey first performed the song during her secret show at KOKO in London in August.
At that time, she told the crowd, “I've been teasing a new song for the past couple of days. You guys are the first people in the world to hear it. Lowkey even before some of the people who work at the label.”
The track was written by Greg Kurstin, Gregory Aldae Hein, and Halsey. Produced by Greg Kurstin, Wyatt Bernard, Michael Uzowuru, and Austin Corona.
The accompanying music video was directed by Halsey herself.- The new album is her first body of work in three years since the 2021 album “If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power” and comprises a 18-track. Also it is her first release under her new label Columbia.
Halsey said of the album, “I made this record in the space between life and death. And it feels like I've waited an eternity for you to have it. I'll wait a bit longer. I've waited a decade, already.” - She dropped a trailer for the album last month. In the clip, she said, “I really thought this album might be the last one I ever made. When you get sick like that, you start thinking about ways it could've all been different. What if this isn't how it all went down? 18-year-old Ashley becomes Halsey in 2014.... Am I still Halsey every time in every timeline? Do I still get sick? Do I become a mom? Am I happy lonely? Have I done enough? Have I told the truth? I spent half my life being someone else. I never stopped to ask myself. If it all ended right now, is this a person you'd be proud to leave behind? is it even you?”
