Ezra Collective Premieres New Song “Streets Is Calling” featuring M.anifest & Moonchild Sanelly on BBC Radio 1
London-based jazz quintet Ezra Collective, consisting of Femi Koleoso (drums), TJ Koleoso (bass), Ife Ogunjobi (trumpet), James Mollison (tenor saxophone) and Joe Armon-Jones (keyboard), premiered a new song “Streets Is Calling” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
This time, the band teamed up with Ghanaian rapper M.anifest and South African singer Moonchild Sanelly on the track.
The song will appear on their upcoming third studio album “Dance, No One's Watching”, which is set to be released on September 27, 2024 via Partisan Records.
The album is their first body of work in two years since the 2022 album “Where I'm Meant to Be”.
The track was recorded in a festival in Mexico City.
It was written by Femi Koleoso, Ife Ogunjobi, James Mollison, Joe Armon-Jones, M.anifest, Moonchild Sanelly, and TJ Koleoso. Produced by Ezra Collective.- The band drummer Femi Koleoso told Jack Saunders about the song, “That important thing you need to know is this was actually recorded in a forest in Mexico as you do. I ended up in a festival in Mexico City, and that's where I met M.anifest and Moonchild Sanelly. And then, as you do when you're having a great time, you just kind of do that rock and roll thing and say, 'I'm not going home.' And we just stayed in the forest for a bit, and then I found a microphone and 'Streets Is Calling'.”
He continued, “It was that moment of, let's just rocket launch. And then they started getting into it together. And it was one of those magical moments, like I said, I was just like looking at them wrapping, thinking, if this actually records, we've got something really magical here.” -
The new album comprises a 19-track, featuring guest appearances from Yazmin Lacey, Olivia Dean, M.anifest and Moonchild Sanelly, produced by Ezra Collective. - source : BBC Radio 1
