Hohnen Ford Releases New EP “I Wish I Had A God”
London-based singer-songwriter Hohnen Ford released her sophomore EP “I Wish I Had A God” on August 9, 2024.
This marks her first project in two years since the 2022 debut EP “Infinity”.
The EP comprises 5-track, which she recorded with producer Luca Caruso in Los Angeles.
All songs were written by Hohnen Ford, alongside co-writer Johnny Lattimer, Jamie Biles, and Dan McDougall.
The EP is dedicated to her best friend Imogen Shelley Moore, who died in May 2023.
Hohnen Ford said of the EP, “It's dedicated to Imogen Moore-Shelly. We lost her in May 2023, and everyday since my heart getskicked in remembering she's gone. Ever since I can remember I've wanted to be like imo. Brave, compassionate, kind, ambitious. She held my hand as I cut my teeth in love, grief and life. I learn from her everyday. If you find love or peace or warmth in this EP, it is the ripples of Imogen's light reaching you. Miss you forever Imo.”- Hohnen Ford explained track-by-track for the EP.
“Only Way Out”
“I wrote it in the middle of the night walking across london bridge. The released version features me playing alto flute no word of a lie.”
“Honest Mistake”
“It was a dream of mine to find a sonic world that felt like me, that supported the song and had a touch of magic in it. Thank you Luca for finding that with me. 10 years of friendship was a good place to start - and we did good. Recorded in my parents house and luca's studio between tears, marathons (me, not luca) and hot chocolates. Thank you jonny for allowing me the space and support to write from such a vulnerable space.” -
“Another Lifetime”
“Sonically, Another lifetime has been the most challenging track i've ever made.... Luca and I spent hours hitting pots and pans in my parents kitchen and more hours re-amping those sounds in Luca's studio. I wanted to capture the feeling of flirtiness that I felt writing the lyric.! How alive it feels.
It was a privilege to feature Midori Jaeger's unparalleled cello playing on this track, melding the acoustic and processed worlds. This track also feature's the best in the biz Will Sach on electric bass, the driving force in this sonic world! AND Jay Verma king of felt playing keys in those sweet choruses. Lucky meeeeeee.”

“I Wish I Had A God' emerged from the depths of grief, as an attempt to make sense of losing one of my best friends last year. Songwriting can be a vessel for grappling with the ineffable. This is the most painful song I've ever written, and has also been a bittersweet gift to watch it resonate with so many as I've performed it live over the last year. Our shared human experience of grief teaches us so much. Written for and dedicated to Imogen. My most treasured song I've written.”
“Skin Deep”
“Last track on the EP. One of my favourite songs to play live with band… Trying to translate my songs to guitar has been an interesting challenge.”
