MICHELLE Releases New Song “Cathy”
New York City-based indie-pop collective MICHELLE, consisting of of Sofia D'Angelo, Julian Kaufman, Charlie Kilgore, Layla Ku, Emma Lee and Jamee Lockard, has announced their upcoming third studio album “Songs About You Specifically” will be released on September 27, 2024.
The album is their first LP in two years since the 2022 album “AFTER DINNER WE TALK DREAMS” and comprises a 11-track.
The group rented a house in Ojai, California to record the album, and the experience of living together in Ojai fostered new bonds between the band members.
Emma Lee said, “There are friends I’ve had for almost my whole life who I won’t know as intimately as I know members of this group. There isn’t really an opportunity for that in any other kind of relationship in your life.”
Julian Kaufman added about the album, “It’s so easy to write a generic love or breakup song. But many of these stories are true. We’re coming from a really honest place.”- From the album, the group released the third single called “Cathy” on August 29, 2024, following “Oontz” and “Mentos and Coke”.
The track was written and produced by Charlie Kilgore, Emma Lee, Julian Kaufman, and Maya Polsky.
The accompanying music video was directed by Jake Lazovick and Richard Phillip Smith
The group said of the song, “‘Cathy' is a soft indie song about being alone after a breakup and leaning into all the thoughts and patterns you know you shouldn't." - source : Apple Music
