  • Ellysse Mason Releases New EP “Wish The World Was Ending”

  • Manchester-based singer-songwriter Ellysse Mason released her new EP “Wish The World Was Ending” on August 28, 2024.

The EP is her first project in six years since the 2018 EP “Hunt Me Down”.
She recorded the EP with producer Ed Graves at the Rainbow Wood Studios in Bath.
The EP comprises a 5-track, including preceding singles “Cry Baby”, “Blowing Smoke”, “Where Did You Go?” and “Getting You Down”, featuring collaboration with British singer-songwriter Callum Spencer.
She co-wrote the songs without “Cry Baby” alongside Ash Howes, Seton Daunt, Ed Graves, Jamie Coupe, Callum Spencer, and James Vezer.
This body of work uncovers her journey of self-discovery and the grief of a relationship, exploring the intricacies of human connection.
  • Ellysse Mason explained about some tracks for the EP.

    “Cry Baby”
“In a way, writing 'Cry Baby' was my CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). It helped me process and heal from the fallout left behind from that relationship. It also held up a mirror to me, and showed me where I've been self-destructive , why I attract those kinds of relationships and friendships, and why I couldn't work out what was going wrong.”

  • “Getting You Down”
“Getting You Down is my favourite song on the EP. It’s the voice that talks you down and helps keep your composure. My listeners know that I am a connoisseur of the bitter-sweet, so in classic Ellysse Mason fashion, the lyrical frustration is dressed up as a feel-good anthem. I love the vibe we’ve caught with this one, but do give it a proper listen to find the bitter in the sweet.”

    “Blowing Smoke” with Callum Spencer
“It’s a breakup song where we are blaming each other and not seeing sense on how we’re both hurting each other. It’s our representation of what it feels like to be in the thick of it, where the f***ery and fire punctures the surface of an argument and it reaches boiling point. These are what I see as the points of no return in a relationship where we say things that basically mean there’s no turning back… I think ‘Blowing Smoke’ is a pretty accurate representation of not just mine and Callum’s lived experiences, but of almost everyone who has ever been in love.”
