  • Florrie Releases New Song “Swimming Pool”

  • Back in June, London-based pop singer-songwriter Florrie released her highly-anticipated debut album “The Lost Ones”.

Following the album, she released a new song “Swimming Pool” along with a music video on August 30, 2024.
She wrote the song last summer, but the song didn't included on the debut album.
She decided to release as a stand alone single.
The track was written by Ben Taylor, Brian Higgins, Cameron Williams-Hill, Florrie Arnold, Xan Griffin, and Yoad Nevo. Produced by Florrie Arnold, Brian Higgins, and Ben Taylor.

Florrie said of the song, “Swimming Pool has such a nostalgic feeling about it and came together so easily in the studio, which isn't always the case! The writing process was very freeing and I think you can hear that in the production. I wrote it last summer, and it didn't feel like the right move to put it on the album, as the album has very different themes, but I hope it's a song that people go to when they want that lazy summer feeling of hanging out in the park or by the pool, or reminiscing about those carefree summers gone by.”
  • The accompanying video was directed by Archie Campbell. Florrie filmed the video at her neighbours pool.

Florrie shared on social media, “I HAVE MADE YOU A VIDEO. Honestly one of the most fun and ridiculous (and quick) shoots I have ever done. Just me and Arch again...the dream team. My neighbour Ray lent me his pool for a few hours and let me tell you...SLO MO works wonders. Arch and his amazing editing skills really saved the day.”

She added, “When you borrow your neighbours pool to film content to promote your new song, but the pool guy is there and you carry on regardless because you are an artist in the 21st century and YOU HAVE NO SHAME because you are a slave to the algorithm and it's the only way to make a living.”

    Album “The Lost Ones”:
  • The debut album “The Lost Ones” comprises a 12-track, produced by Brian Higgins, Florrie, and Ben Taylor.
Florrie said of the album, “I have been waiting to make my debut album for the last 12 years and it deserved all the time and love I've put into it.”

Florrie explained about some tracks for the album.

    “The Lost Ones”
“I wrote 'The Lost Ones' when I was coming out of a pretty dark place, but slowly finding my feet again and feeling hopeful for the first time in a long time. It's a song for anyone who feels lost, or forgotten, or unsure of their path, reminding you that there are always better days ahead. It's also an absolute sing your heart out at 2 in the morning crying, dancing, eating too many chicken nuggets BANGER (can confirm as of Saturday night).”

    “Never Far From Paradise”
“I wrote 'Never Far From Paradise' looking back on a difficult period of time in my life, in a way giving advice to the person I was then, reminding them that even in what feel like the darkest times, there's always a light around the corner. I wanted to capture a feeling of optimism and euphoria in the production, to counteract the more poignant lyrics, and I hope that's what people take away from the track when they listen. It's my favourite track to play live, there's something really powerful about singing and drumming this one together! I always imagined running to and from something when I was writing this song. Running from the past, from the things or people that hold you back, from the secrets that you tell no-one, and running back to yourself, to a place where you can feel some peace, to somewhere where nobody can find you.”

    “Kissing In the Cold”
“This is one of my favourite songs I've ever written. I had this idea of finger 'drumming' riffs on the Juno (synth) and Brian, my co-producer, burst into the room and said, “THATS IT WHAT WAS THAT!!?” Luckily I was recording because I couldn't play it again (it happens a lot), this is the rhythmical bouncy riff you hear throughout the chorus, then we added other parts around it and created a synth wonderland. Every melody, riff, and part of this song was given so much love and attention and to me it is a perfect mix of nostalgia and the feeling of looking back and wondering what could've been…something I think we can all relate to in some way. It's full of longing and hopefulness at the same time, and I hope you love it as much as I do.”

    “Personal”
“I recorded the drums in LA over the summer and they were one of the last bits we added to the record. It started out in life as more of a ballad, and I wrote it over a sad eighties synth riff (RIP sad eighties synth riff era) but we spent a lot of time on the production and I love the massive drums (naturally) they just fit perfectly with the lyrics…defiant. The production was worked on all over the place, a lot of the time in the studio and sometimes on zoom (always secretly filming). It was mixed by someone I'd wanted to work with for ages, Manon Grandjean, and in true moi style, it went through about a million different versions. But I hope you'll be able to hear the love and time that has gone into it...this song is the end of an era, and the start of a new one where the music is going to keep coming, so I hope you're ready.”

    “Looking for Love”
“The vocal you hear in the chorus is actually the original. I couldn't beat it. I tried 100 times, I remember recording it and Brian has a very intense look about him and he just kept pushing me, to the point where I was almost angry that I wasn't nailing it. I wanted to beat it for this new version, but nothing matched up to it.”
