The Last Dinner Party Covers Sparks' “This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us”
British indie rock band The Last Dinner Party, consisting of Georgia Davies (bass), Lizzie Mayland (guitar), Abigail Morris (vocals), Aurora Nishevci (keyboard) and Emily Roberts (guitar), released a cover of American pop band Sparks' “This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us” on August 28, 2024.
The song will appear on a deluxe edition of their debut album “Prelude to Ecstasy” entitled “Prelude to Ecstasy: Acoustics and Covers”, which is set to be released on October 11, 2024.
The original version of the song was released by Sparks as the first single from their third studio album “Kimono My House” in 1974.
The track was written by Ron Mael. The cover version was produced by Dan Roberts.
The accompanying music video features footage shot during their recent tour in Japan and the United States, as well as their performance at the Reading Festival.- The band said of the song, “'This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of Us' by Sparks is an absolute whirlwind of a song that we simply could not resist covering!! Also, a short film “Prelude To Ecstasy” will premiere at a Soho Cinema and live-streamed to their YouTube channel on September 12, 2024.
