  • Rizzle Kicks Returns with New Song “Javelin”

  • British hip hop duo Rizzle Kicks, consisting of Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule, returned with a new song “Javelin” on August 30, 2024.

It is their first music in eight years since the 2016 single “Slurp!”.
The song is accompanied by the Lauren Luxenberg-directed music video.
The track was written by Anthony Whiting, Cameron Palmer, Emily Phillips, Harley Sulé, and Jordan Stephens. Produced by Anthony Whiting and Swindle.
The song will appear on their upcoming third studio album.

The duo said of the song, “We wrote Javelin in a family home in a good place and open hearted. It was the first time we worked with Swindle alongside Ant Whiting. Ant was already fam, Swindle is now too.”

They continued, “Javelin has essentially informed the direction of the album. ‘Spearhead’ that is. It’s a statement of intent. Guaranteed to lift spirits. That’s what we’re here to do. We feel as though that’s our lane. Most of the time.”
  • The duo has released two albums, the 2011 debut album “Stereo Typical”, which reached No. 5 on the UK Album Chart, and the 2013 sophomore album “Roaring 20s”, which reached No. 3 on the UK Album Chart.
In 2016, the duo stopped making music together due to problems including addiction and mental health.
But they feel now the right time to come back after an almost decade-long break.

Jordan Stephens told BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat, "I don’t hide away from my own battles with addiction, and we talk about that. We delve into stressful times, but also lighter – be there with your mate and have fun. I literally rap about drinking water now – that’s my flex. This is all bonus rounds to us. We’re doing this because we love it. This album's about where we’re at right now. Which is love, and having a good time."

  • He continued, "We’re not trying to be global megastars, or working off nostalgia, we’re working on what we love right now. We just wanna deliver quality for the foreseeable."

Harley Alexander-Sule added, "Having a laugh and enjoying it. As long as this return allows us to continue for the next five, 10 years - that’s success."
