SOPHIE Premieres New Song “Exhilarate” featuring Bibi Bourelly on BBC Radio 1
The forthcoming posthumous self-titled album from the late Scottish music producer SOPHIE will be released on September 27, 2024.
From the album, the fourth single called “Exhilarate” premiered on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song features German singer-songwriter Bibi Bourelly.
The track was written by Badriia Bourelly, Kennedi Lykken, and Sophie Xeon. Produced by SOPHIE and Benny Long.
So far, in addition to the new song, “Reason Why” featuring Kim Petras and BC Kingdom, “Berlin Nightmare” featuring Evita Manji, and “One More Time” featuring Popstar were released from the album.
Bibi Bourelly told Jack Saunders about the song, “I think that our record is just a stream of consciousness and fun, like imagine two kids or creatives on the playground is having fun, adult people just making art.”- She said of collaboration with SOPHIE, “Whenever SOPHIE and I, personally, we collaborate, the atmosphere was literally like people, kids throwing paint at the wall. Totally free and like courageous is the best way to describe it. And just going to the studio with her was always a safe space. And if you could just imagine just kids at their peak, what I mean, like on a slide or on a swing, just in the moment.”

She continued, “The first time I met SOPHIE, I got on the mic was kind of I didn't have anything written. I don't know, like imagine, like a journal entry or a diary entry, and I just kind of let loose, and she kind of just looked at me like, that makes any sense that I do. I needed her. Actually needed to meet her, because I was around a lot of kind of fake stuff and more strict stuff. She kind of was a light in that moment, and was just the person that got it. I don't know how to explain it.” - source : BBC Radio 1
