  • Lainey Wilson Releases New Album “Whirlwind”

  • American country music singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson released her fifth studio album “Whirlwind” on August 23, 2024 via BBR Music Group.

This marks her first album in two years since the 2022 album “Bell Bottom Country”.
The album comprises a 14-track, featuring a guest appearance from American country music singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert, produced by Jay Joyce.
She co-wrote all 14 of the songs on the album and recorded the album with her tour band instead of utilizing studio musicians.

Lainey Wilson said of recording with her tour band, “I'm talking about the people that have stood by my side and supported me when I didn't have anything to offer except for a few songs and a big 'ol dream. We have been working on this thing for over a year. And I'm so glad that our labor of love you could call it is almost years, almost. I truly do think that this is the best record that I have ever done and my band got to play on it. It seems like we all knew what was missing without even talking about it and it just feels special. I mean these are the guys my day ones they're the ones who started out with me in a flatbed F-450. We had equipment strapped to the back. We rode a million miles in a van. And I'll tell you what, it was a big deal to get a van. Big deal. But this record is really special to me for a lot of reasons but having my boys on it makes it that much more special. And it only makes sense to have them play on a record called Whirlwind because they have been a part of my Whirlwind since day one.”
  • Lainey Wilson said of the album, “Writing & recording these 14 songs over the past couple of years has helped me stay grounded in ways you'd never believe. This album brought me back to my roots and made me feel at home during times when I couldn't have been further away.”

She continued, “I've been runnin' the roads nonstop for a few years now and I ain't gonna lie to y'all, sometimes it can be tough being away from home that much. At the same time, remembering what 'home' is and the things that I get to do for the ones I love because of the work I put in, is what keeps me going and makes it all worthwhile.”
  • She added, “I've been trying to sit down for a while now and talk about what this record means to me but the truth is I feel like this record says it all. I've grown so much in the past few years and I have such a different view of love and life and loss. The highs and lows of the whirlwind have taught me a lot about what's important and how to never give up on trying to find your inner peace. I think you'll hear what I mean when you listen. Hope it means something to you too.”

Lainey Wilson explained about some tracks for the album.

    “Country's Cool Again”
“Country isn't just a genre for any of us that live & breathe it every day. It's a way of life. It's always been cool & I think I speak for everyone when I say, we're just glad it's gettin' a lil more love these days.”

“I finally found a guy that gives me a run for my money. And he's my biggest cheerleader. He's just a good person. And he knows how important chasing down a dream is, because even when he was a little boy, football was his life. He did it and he tried out for the Steelers and made the team. And so he achieved what he set out to do. And so he knows. We met at a time where he was still playing with them, but then it all changed. So it was weird. It was like his life was changing as my life was changing and we were going different directions. So, yeah, life for us is a whirlwind.”

    “Hang Tight Honey”
“I've been runnin' the roads nonstop for a few years now and I ain't gonna lie to y'all, sometimes it can be tough being away from home that much. At the same time, remembering what 'home' is and the things that I get to do for the ones I love because of the work I put in, is what keeps me going and makes it all worthwhile.
This one's an anthem for the hard working men and women that get up every dang day and put in long hours to make a life worth living for the ones they love most.”

    “4x4xU”
“This song is about finding that someone that gives you the comfort and peace of home anywhere in the world as long as you're by their side. Thank you to the incredible Dano Cerny for directing this video and bringing the vision to life, and to all of my collaborators on this record for being a part of what I think could be my biggest song yet.”

“Middle of It” via Apple Music
“We had actually just got nominated for Entertainer of the Year for the CMAs. And I had not been at my house in Nashville, and I didn't have furniture in my house for months. We don't need a couch, we're not here. So my friends The Heart Wranglers came over and they just said, 'Let's do a heart check.' And they're like, 'What's going on? Where are you at? How you feel? Where's your head?' I sat on the floor and I just said, 'I feel like I'm just smack-dab in the middle of it. It's a blur to me where it started, where it's going to end up. I just can't hardly tell.' And then we just started talking about how that's really what all this is about anyway. That's the beauty of it.”

“Whiskey Colored Crayon” via Apple Music
“That song actually came from a word exercise that my co-writer [Josh Kear] did. I'll probably get this wrong, but every morning before he writes songs, he writes a list of things. And say the first list that he wrote was 'things that I hate' and maybe it's lettuce or greens or whiskey or whatever. And then he writes a list of random things, things that you can use to create. He mix-mashed these words and he was like, 'Well, I've got this whiskey-colored crayon,' and we got to thinking about the storyline of this. And we came up with, 'Okay, let's think about a young student, the colored crayon part. Okay, and how could we tell a story about a little boy who goes through some things at home that most people don't know about?' We created the story. And for me, again, putting myself into the shoes of somebody else takes me out of my mess for a minute and gives me a fresh and new perspective. And I left that songwriting session, after we told this story, just feeling grateful.”
