  • Sabrina Carpenter Releases New Album “Short n' Sweet”

  • American singer-songwriter and actress Sabrina Carpenter released her sixth studio album “Short n' Sweet” on August 23, 2024 via Island Records.

It is her first album in two years since the 2022 album “Emails I Can't Send”.
Sabrina Carpenter wrote much of the album during an 11-day trip to a small town in rural French.
The album comprises a 12-track, produced by Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, Ian Kirkpatrick, and Jack Antonoff.

Sabrina Carpenter told Rolling Stone about working with Jack Antonoff, who is known as producer for Taylor Swift's Grammy album “Folklore” and “Midnights”, “I was peeing my pants because I wanted to work with him for my whole life. He heard some of the stuff that I was working on for this album, and we just started to make magic. At first, I was wondering if it was separate projects or if it felt like one. And then, as everything came together, I was like, 'This is one album.'”
  • Sabrina Carpenter told Zane Lowe of Apple Music about album title, “I thought about some of these relationships, how some of them were the shortest I've ever had and they affected me the most. And I thought about the way that I respond to situations: Sometimes it is very nice, and sometimes it's not very nice.”

She continued, “When you're at this point in your life where you're almost at your wits' end, everything is funny. So much of this album was made in the moments where there was something that I just couldn't stop laughing about. And I was like, well, that might as well just be a whole song.”

She added, “A lot of what I really love about this album is the accountability. I will call myself out just as much as I will call out someone else.”
  • Sabrina Carpenter shared on social media, “I feel extremely lucky that each time I write a new record I learn a little bit more about myself, and can create from that place. the making of short n' sweet was one of the most special, honest, up and down, stupid and fun experiences of my life. I thought if something was funny enough to make me laugh then maybe it belonged in a song. Happy or sad!”

Sabrina Carpenter explained about some tracks for the album.

    “Taste” via Kiss 108
“'Taste' is one of my favorite songs off the album and it says a lot about me and a lot about other people. I think it's sort of poking fun of myself a little bit for my mistakes and also poking fun at the, kind of like, facepalm that is life and relationship and the, sort of, situations that it puts you in, um, and it's just making lighthearted fun at the whole concept of, you know, people that you've been with moving on to other people, and, you know, I think it's a very human thing but it's certainly fun.”

    “Please Please Please”
“I ended the last video getting arrested, so naturally I thought it would be satisfying to start the “Please Please Please” video in jail. I liked the idea of falling in love with a convict and being shocked and embarrassed every time he commits crimes. I was sooo lucky to get Barry Keoghan in the video cause he is just magic on screen.”

    “Bed Chem” via Paper Magazine
“There was a lot of steam in the studio. It was real hot and heavy. No, I'm kidding. My friend Paloma [Sandoval] and I coined the term ['bad chem']. I went to the studio that day and was like, 'I have this title and idea, and we have to make it sexy and a little bit unserious at the same time because it is such a ridiculous concept.”

    “Espresso” via Vogue
“The song is kind of about seeing femininity as your super power, and embracing the confidence of being that bitch. Since the day I heard the song, I saw a beach atmosphere—and more specifically this kind of old school and modern environment. I wanted to capture the playfulness that I like to use throughout all of my videos. I also just wanted a pool car, to be frank.”

    “Don't Smile” via Apple Music
“It's funny, I usually write from first hand experiences except for [this] song, and although it happened to me in many different ways, the seed of the idea came originally from my friend that was experiencing heartbreak in that moment; and in a very visceral situation. That title is so… it's on every Pinterest board, on every sewn pillow, but the opposite; don't cry because it's over but smile because it happened and I was like 'fuck that'”
