  • Wallice Announces Debut Album “The Jester”, Shares Two New Songs “Heaven Has To Happen” & “The Opener”

  • Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Wallice has announced her upcoming debut album “The Jester” will be released on November 15, 2024 via Dirty Hit.

The album comprises a 14-track, produced by marinelli, and Mikey Freedom Hart. She recorded the album in New York.
From the album, she released two new songs “Heaven Has To Happen” and “The Opener” along with the music videos on August 21, 2024.

Wallice shared, “I spent the last 2.5 years writing this record and I am so proud to share the first two songs from it. We recorded everything at the beginning of the year in New York and it wouldn't be what it is without my white boys marinelli, Mikey Freedom Hart and David Hart. I hope you guys love these songs and love the album.”

Both songs were produced by marinelli and Mikey Freedom Hart. Two music videos were directed by Vanessa Pla.
“Heaven Has To Happen” was written by David Marinelli, Ethan Gruska, Wallice Watanabe.
The track explores the theme of imposter syndrome.

Wallice said of the song, “I started this right after my very first tour opening for Still Woozy in 2022. As an artist, I constantly have imposter syndrome and think that maybe I don't belong in the scene. This song is a great follow up to 'The Opener' in that I question my career but also have such determination that the work will pay off.”
  • “The Opener” was written by David Marinelli and Wallice Watanabe.
The track is inspired by her experience supporting The 1975 on tour.

She said of the song, “I went on a month-long tour opening for The 1975, which was a dream come true. It was an amazing experience – but was also interesting to think about the job of an opener. Is it to warm up the crowd or just fill the empty space? Many people who were in the front of the crowd had been camping outside for hours in hopes to get barricade and be closer to The 1975, so they weren't too enthused with my performance, someone they had never heard of.”

  • She continued, “I would always go watch the show after I played. One night, this girl bumped into me and spilled her beer on me - which then made me spill my tea - and she said a quick sorry and left. The experience kind of made me feel like I hadn't just given it my all on the stage, like I was another faceless body in a big arena. 'The Opener' is about the accomplishments and failures in my career so far, and how some things are both at the same time.”
