  • The Script Releases New Album “Satellites”

  • Irish rock band The Script, consisting of Danny O'Donoghue (lead vocals), Glen Power (drums), Benjamin Sargeant (bass) and Ben Weaver (guitar), released their seventh studio album “Satellites” on August 16, 2024 via BMG Rights Management.

The album is their first LP in five years since the 2019 album “Sunsets & Full Moons”.
Also, it marks the first release as a four-piece band, and serves as a tribute to the late guitarist Mark Sheehan, who passed away on April 14, 2023.

The band said, “The album cover is silhouettes of me, Glen and Ben Sargeant, our bassist, who's been with us from the beginning. Then we have a hooded silhouette, because the air of Mark is still there. He always will be, but it's also giving a tip of the hat to the future. It'll never be the same Script. We're just trying to get on and do what it is that we all feel is the next right thing to do and that's to keep making more great music.”
  • The album comprises a 12-track, produced by Danny O'Donoghue, Iain Archer, Jimbo Barry, Matt Prime, Steve Mac and Steve Robson.
Written by Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Ben Sargeant, Conor Byrne, Danny O'Donoghue, Glen Power, Iain Archer, Jimbo Barry, Josh Gray, Mark Sheehan, Matt Prime, Nolan Sipe, Steve Mac, Steve Robson and Wayne Hector.

The band said of the album, “This album is a journey through the highs and lows and we poured our hearts into every track.”

  • The band explained about some tracks for the album.

    “Both Ways”
“'Both Ways' is high energy, and maybe not what people might expect from us. But we're The Script, and now we have something to prove: that there is life and light after the darkness. It's why we're coming fast and strong with that one.”

“Home Is Where the Hurt Is”
“So everybody has regrets, regrets about the past, and regrets about things they've done. But did you know that if you change any one of those things, you wouldn't be the person that you are today, so you got to be very, very careful about what you do. We wrote this song called 'Home Is Where the Hurt Is'. And it's all about growing up and the trials and the trials and tribulations that you have to go through in order to become the person that you are today. And looking back and trying to make if you had a difficult childhood, if you had different things happen to you when you were younger, it's about using those things for fuel to the fire, to be able to, bring passion into your life, and to be able to use those things to better yourself. And in a world where no one's perfect. It's the things that hurt us that make us who we are, and we are who we are.”

    “At Your Feet”
“'At Your Feet' was inspired by a show called 'Match of the Day'. I was sitting around, I was watching 'Match of the Day', which is a roundup of the week's football, and this particular commentator was talking about my favorite football team, Manchester United. And saying that one of the strikers was playing with the world on his shoulders instead of being at his feet. And I just thought, wait a minute. Light bulb went off, and I went off, and I got a piece of paper, and I started to scribe down the words that he had said and then try to work my way backwards in this story about, you know, this guy who's been protected from the world by his girlfriend or boyfriend or whatever. And I just felt that it was such a strong lyric that we ended up writing this chorus called 'at your feet', which is about the person that you love, holding the world back and holding the waters, away from you. It's a beautiful song.”
