  • Hozier Releases New EP “Unaired”

  • Irish singer-songwriter Hozier released a new EP “Unaired” on August 16, 2024 via Rubyworks Records and Columbia Records.

The EP follows up the EP “Unheard”, which was released back in March.
The EP comprises a 3-track, featuring a guest appearance from Syrian-American singer-songwriter Bedouine.
Produced by Bekon, Peter G, Chakra, Serghiu Gherman, Jeff 'Gitty' Gitelman, Andrew Hozier-Byrne, and Gus Seyffert.

Hozier said of the EP, “So one thing that that I came away with from the album sessions was just how much material, I kind of had on my hands. And it was a pretty intensely creative period. Once I kind of hit the ground running with a lot of ideas. And then, at the end of the album process, we had far more material than we could put onto one album. So we've 'Unheard' and then, we're a few more songs for another EP called 'Unaired' as well too. 'Unaired', which has got three songs. And one is 'Nobody's Soldier, so two others - 'July' and a song I wrote with wonderful artist called Bedouine called 'That You Are'. They'll all be part of the kind of a more extended world of the album I suppose. And it's just fun to share them. I think it would have been sad not to let them, run out in the world and see what see what they do.”
  • Hozier explained track-by-track for the EP.

    “Nobody's Soldier”
“The civil rights movement that took place here in the United States directly inspired the civil rights movement in Northern Ireland, very shortly afterwards in a time and place where not every single person was guaranteed the right to vote.
We've been singing this song in solidarity with anybody who has contacted their representatives or put their feet on the street in honest goodwill and human witness of the lived experience of other people on the other side of the world that say 'We wouldn't want to see any human be subject to the kind of violence that we have been witnessing on our TV screens in Rafa. We wouldn't want to see any human being subject to the kind of violence we've been seeing in Gaza over these last eight or nine months.
It doesn't matter who you are, it doesn't matter where you come from. It doesn't matter if you are an Israeli citizen or Palestinian citizen – you wouldn't want to see any human being be subject to the kind of terror we have been witnessing.
Peace and safety and security for everybody you know, for everybody in the Middle East, and sincere peace, safety and security which of course would mean seeing Palestine free from occupation and free from violence.
If you feel moved to reach out to your representatives as a citizen, a foreign citizen, as a man who comes from a country whose peace process came about due to the investment of the United States, something I am very, very grateful for, I strongly urge you to, I strongly encourage you to reach out to your representation.”

  • “July”
“'July' is something I wrote during the pandemic. July was always the month when Ireland was supposed to open up again. So it was a song I wrote years ago. Much like a lot of the work on the record, you know? So it was a song about looking forward to something, perpetually looking ahead.”

    “That You Are” featuring Bedouine
“'That You Are,' a song that I was blessed to write with Bedouine in Los Angeles and record together shortly after.”
