The Blessed Madonna & Kylie Minogue Premiere New Song “Edge of Saturday Night” on BBC Radio 1
American DJ The Blessed Madonna teamed up with Australian singer-songwriter Kylie Minogue to premiere a new song “Edge of Saturday Night” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song will appear on The Blessed Madonna's upcoming album “Godspeed”, which is set to be release on October 11, 2024.
It was written by Jin Jin, Kylie Minogue, Marea Stamper, and Rachel Keen. Produced by Pat Alvarez and The Blessed Madonna.
The Blessed Madonna first performed during The Blessed Madonna's DJ set at Ibiza's legendary Circoloco nightclub.
The Blessed Madonna said of the song, “This song is about edges. I started this song when we were on the edge of lockdown, writing lyrics on the edge of being a new person, on the edge of levelling up as a producer. The song went on a journey but finally found its edge when Kylie came into my life and breathed an energy into Edge, and into me. So here we are together, Marge and Kiki.”- She shared on social media, “Well, it's fitting that this song is about an equally important edge in my life. It was a morning that magically turned into night. It was a dawn when instead of the party ending, we shut the blinds and began again. It might have been a beautiful February Monday, but in a very special room in Berlin, we found ourselves again on the edge of a Saturday night.”
The Blessed Madonna told Jack Saunders about song, “I think sometimes you just have to wait all the cosmic tumblers look into place and then it works. You can't rush it, you can't wish it, you can't do any of those things. It just happens. And when it did, it felt exactly right.”
Kylie Minogue added, “When Maria told me this story about the one of the beginnings of this song, shut the blinds is a very good sign, because the club's about to happen all over again. It may be say a lot outside, but shut the blinds. I never knew that that was a thing. So we're shutting the blinds.” -
The new album comprises a 24-track, featuring guest appearances from Mother Marygold, Ric Wilson, Kylie Minogue, Marbl, Joy Crookes, Jin Jin, James Vincent McMorrow, A-Tra, DJ E-Clyps, Shaun J. Wright, Kon, Jacob Lusk, Clementine Douglas, Jamie Principle, Joy Anonymous, Danielle Ponder, and Daniel Wilson.
The album is a deeply personal project for The Blessed Madonna. After nearly a year in lockdown, she began working on the album, her father passed away just a few weeks before the recording.
The Blessed Madonna said of the album, “Godspeed: the word marks the beginning of a journey and sometimes the end of one. After nearly a year in lockdown, when I signed the paperwork and knew that I was going to be allowed to make this album, I called my dad in Kentucky to tell him the good news. He could not contain his pride and in a way his relief. I was going to be ok. He says it better than I do at the beginning of the record. I lost him suddenly just weeks before the first session, but his voice will live in Godspeed forever and make a million more journeys to everyone who hears it.” - source : BBC Radio 1
