Kimbra Releases New Song “Back To You”
New York-based New Zealand singer-songwriter Kimbra released the eighth single called “Back To You” from her upcoming fifth studio album “Idols & Vices (Vol. 1)” on August 14, 2024.
The new album is set to be released on September 25, 2024.
The track was written and produced by Kimbra and Taylor Graves.
The accompanying animated music video was animated by Greg Sharp.
Kimbra said of the song, “I wrote this song with one of the most talented dudes I know Taylor Graves. It's a fav of mine on the record so I can't wait for you to hear it with the mad arp and bass drop. It really goes hard.”
She added, “Also. Singing is completely embodied for me. I used to be really self conscious about how I look when I sing, cos I really put my back into it for want of a better word. But you can't channel from the soul without your whole vessel engaged.”- The new album is her first collaborative album and comprises a 14-track, featuring guest appearances from Sahtyre, BANKS, Tommy Raps, Ivy Sole, Fatboi Sharif, Le'Asha, DRAM, Dawn Richard, and Taylor Graves.
The album features otherworldly visuals, created by Greg Sharp, for every song on the record.
She is currently releasing one song each week until the album's release, and so far, eight singles, including the latest song “Back To You”, have been released.
Kimbra said of the album, “Thematically, Idols & Vices explores the increasingly complex realm of our digital existence. The songs delve into concepts like identity reinvention, toxic celebrity worship and the eventual disillusionment that follows.” - source : Apple Music
