Shawn Mendes Releases Two New Songs “Why Why Why” & “Isn't That Enough”
Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes released two new songs “Why Why Why” and “Isn't That Enough” on August 8, 2024.
"Earlier this month, he announced that his fifth studio album, 'Shawn,' would be released on October 18, 2024, via Island Records. He also dropped a trailer for the album and revealed that two songs from it would be released on his birthday.
“Why Why Why” was written and produced by Eddie Benjamin, Mike Sabath, Scott Harris, and Shawn Mendes.
The accompanying music video was directed by Anthony Wilson and Connor Brashier.
Shawn Mendes told Apple Music about the song, “I think 'Why Why Why,' like I said, I felt no pressure to address anything, but it was just one of those experiences where there kind of became this joke while we were making the album that was like, if I started to experience some pretty heavy anxiety in the studio, everyone was sure that a great song was going to be coming after it because there was some sort of healing crisis, some sort of breakthrough that was supposed to happen. There was something anthemic about those words, 'why, why, why.' It almost felt like a cry. It felt like... I don't know. It just felt powerful and beautiful.”- “Isn't That Enough” was written by Amy Allen, Ethan Gruska, Mike Sabath, Nate Mercereau, Scott Harris, and Shawn Mendes. The song was used for the trailer for album “Shawn”.
The new album is his first body of work in four years since the 2020 album “Wonder”.
Shawn Mendes said of the album, “Music really can be medicine. 2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn't step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift.
