FLO Releases New Song “Check”
London-based girl group FLO, consisting of Stella Quaresma, Jorja Douglas and Renée Downer, released a new song “Check” on August 2, 2024.
The song is their third single of 2024, following “Walk Like This” and “Caught Up”, and will appear on their upcoming debut album (yet-untitled), which is set to be released on later this year.
It was written by Curtis Robertson Jr., Kaelyn Behr, Leon Ware, Rudy Sandapa, Ryan Ashley, Syreeta Wright, and Uzoechi Emenike. Produced by Styalz Fuego and Rudy Sandapa.
The accompanying music video was directed by Troy Roscoe.
“Check is a lover girl anthem! It's a refreshing take on relationships for us and is different from anything we've released in the past,” FLO said of the song in a statement. “It comes from a softer, happier and more loving place. It feels great to all be in relationships so it only felt right to drop a lover girl anthem for the summer!”- The group member Renée Downer told Teen Vogue about the debut album, “It's powerful. It's also unapologetic. On the album, we have a lot of different songs we try but obviously bring R&B into it. Everything we're doing, we want to do it from a place of honesty and a place of 'This is what we have to say, and this is how we're gonna say it.' It took a while to get that because we couldn't just make songs, we had to be vulnerable and open up and really get to the root of what we were talking about.”
She continued, “The songs that are out on Spotify and streaming services are really old songs. They were songs that we wrote when we were a lot younger, so we've come a long way. We've learned a lot, and some things have to be said.” - source : Apple Music
