Porcelain Moon Covers Empire of the Sun's “Walking on a Dream”
Cape Town-based indie pop duo Porcelain Moon, consisting of Emma Goode (lead vocals/piano) and Gerry Matthee (producer/multi-instrumentalist), released a cover of Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun's “Walking on a Dream” on June 26, 2024.
The song is their second single of 2024, following “Wishbone” release back in May.
The original version of the song was released by Empire of the Sun as the lead single from their debut studio album “Walking on a Dream” in 2008.
The track was written by Luke Steele, Nick Littlemore, and Donnie Sloan. The cover version was produced by Gerry Matthee.
The duo said of the song, “A unique take on Empire of the Sun's smash hit 'Walking on a Dream' - Porcelain Moon reimagines the classic electropop track as a chilled indie alternative R&B bop. Warm piano and smooth synths complement a laid-back, yet punchy lo-fi drumbeat...the perfect backbone for the lead vocalist's honeyed vocal tone.”- The music video for the song, directed by Emma Goode and Gerry Matthee, was released on July 30, 2024.
The duo said of the video, “Spontaneous road trip turned filming a music video! We love this song too much NOT to make something a little more special for it on the visual front! Lovingly shot and edited by yours truly and having a ton of fun with our FUJIFILM X-H2s along the way.” -
