Wilkinson Premieres New Song “Break It Down” featuring Emily Makis on BBC Radio 1
British DJ Mark Wilkinson, aka Wilkinson premiered a new song “Break It Down” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
This time, he teamed up with British singer-songwriter Emily Makis on the track.
This marks the first collaboration between Mark Wilkinson and Emily Makis.
The song will appear on his upcoming fifth studio album, following “This Moment” featuring London-based singer-songwriter Kelli-Leigh and “Balance” with British singer-songwriter NORTH.
He first performed the song with Emily Makis in London last week. Mark Wilkinson said, “I've been hammering this all summer and it's been amazing to see you lot go off to it, especially the 2nd drop!”
The track was written by Emily Makis, Gez O'Connell, Josh Record, and Mark Wilkinson. Produced by Mark Wilkinson.
Mark Wilkinson told Jack Saunders about the song, “It feels really good, the whole there's so many different sections of the song. It was really fun to me.”- He continued, “This feels like at the moment I just feel I'm kind of having that internal clash of genres and I never know what to make. I mean, the last two things have all been completely different.”
He added, “It's kind of got like the jump up sound in there, but when it's kind of made that work. In a kind of velvety sort of, I don't know, like sonically it's sometimes the like jump up tunes, with vocals on they can sound like they're a bit all over the place. But I really wanted to like blend it all in.” - source : BBC Radio 1
