Child of the Parish Premieres New Song “Local Bragging Rights” on BBC Radio 1
British electro-pop duo Child of the Parish, consisting of brothers Ben Vella and Tom Vella, premiered a new song “Local Bragging Rights” on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Sian Eleri.
The song is the third single off of their upcoming debut album “Sweet Surrender”, which is set to be released on September 6, 2024.
The track was written and produced by Ben Vella and Tom Vella.
The duo said of the song, “There's a darkside to the lyrics, but then the music itself is weirdly upbeat. So you have a serious, sad topic dressed up in a glittery outfit.”
Ben Vella added, “It's one of our favorite tunes from the new album. It's probably one of the ones on the album that's most like our old stuff. There is in touch with before the moments gone to it, I guess. It's about doom romances in a small town.”- The debut album comprises a 13-track, produced by Ben Vella and Tom Vella.
The duo told Notion about the album, “It was a bit unusual in that the album was originally conceived as more of a mixtape. We were working towards a regular album, going through our previous singles and EPs, and realised we had a ton of half-formed ideas we were really excited by. It was suggested to do a more experimental long-form mixtape, with no real eye on singles, and we both got completely obsessed with it! When it was done it became obvious this was the real album, I love the fact it was formed with quite a free mind.” - source : BBC Radio 1
