Will Smith Teams Up with Russ & Jaden for New Song “WORK OF ART”
American actor and rapper Will Smith teamed up with American rapper Russ and his son Jaden Smith, aka Jaden to release a new song “WORK OF ART” on July 26, 2024.
The song will appear on his upcoming album “Rave In The Wasteland” (the tentative title), which is expected to be released in 2024.
The track was written by Christian Beau Astrop, Drew Gavin, Jaden, Justin Alexander Scott, Omarr Rambert, Russell James Vitale, and Willard Smith. Produced by omarr, LeXoskeleton, and Beau Nox.
The accompanying music video was directed by Willy Rodríguez.
Will Smith, Russ and Jaden first performed the song at La Velada Del Año 4 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid earlier this month.
Will Smith said of the song in the video, “WORK OF ART was the song where I found my new voice. It's how I want to sound and what I want to talk about. Before that, I had recorded about 20 tracks - a constellation of ideas of how I thought I needed to be. But 'Work of Art' brought clarity-it revealed the fullness of who and what and how I truly am.”- He continued, “I love that first two lines, I am the paint, I am the bush, I am the canvas, and that first idea is like no blame, and then the second line, I am a saint but if you touch I am a Savage, and I was never able to admit that before. And I think people are waking up to the idea of the absolute spiritual magic of this.”
He added, “Place it's just such an interesting thing where I am in my life and with the music right now, kind of the exploration of the sameness of all of us trying to find those connective aspects of humanity. Just it's a beautiful thing.” - The new album is hi first body of work in 19 years since the 2005 album “Lost and Found”.
Will Smith said ofthe album, “I have a project that is, without question, the most personal and powerful music that I've ever made. So, you know, I'm going to sneak that out on you in a month or so.”
He continued, Through some of my darkest moments, music has always been there for me - to lift me and help me grow. It's my humble wish that it can do the same for you and bring you all the joy and light you deserve.”
