Alice Russell Drops New Music Video for “Gravity”
British singer-songwriter Alice Russell dropped a new music video for “Gravity” on July 25, 2024.
The song is featured on her latest album “I Am”, which was released back in April.
The track is an orchestral love song with a classical theme, about regaining truth and deciding love is something worth fighting for.
It was written and produced by long-time collaborator TM Juke.
“Gravity” was also remixed by London-based studio production outfit Payfone, who transformed the track into a slow-house, Balearic gem.
The video was directed by filmmakers Tiara Westlake and Dan Evans, and shot at Racquet Studios' specialist virtual production facility in Lewes, Sussex, sees Alice Russell performing against a backdrop of ethereal and otherworldly landscapes.- Alice Russell explained about the video, “We needed to follow the route of playing on the title 'Gravity'. We wanted something that was beautiful to watch in its own right, and not to focus too much on narrative, but instead this idea of me floating/falling in space. The falling shots, the fluttering sleeve and movements as I fall, like we do with love”.
The new album comprises a 9-track, produced by TM Juke. It is her first album in a decade since the 2014 album “To Dust”.
“I Am” is named after the titular and thematic track, and is a song that allowed Alice to articulate something that she had long felt but hadn't fully understood. - Alice Russell said, “I had started therapy soon after my first child was born, and it opened up a bigger understanding of myself and some relationships that had shaped my emotional landscape.” Dealing with themes of generational trauma, healing and life's darker side, 'I Am' acts as a liberating beacon, showing that we can all be our biggest lovers and advocates, “finding our own power, clear boundaries, and doing the work on ourselves to love so much more deeply.”
