Angie McMahon Releases New Song “Just Like North”
Australian singer-songwriter Angie McMahon released a new song “Just Like North” on July 25, 2024.
The song is the first single since her sophomore album “Light, Dark, Light Again”, which was released last October.
Initially, the song was recorded during the sessions for the second album, but was not included in the album.
She first performed the song on her Making It Through Australian tour in May.
The track was written and produced by Angie McMahon, with production by Brad Cook.
The accompanying music video was directed by Kyle Caulfield.
“'Just Like North' is one of my favourites from the writing period of Light, Dark, Light Again, and it was recorded in Durham, NC with a bunch of the other songs on the record,” Angie McMahon said of the song. “In the end it didn't fit into the sequencing, and I always wanted to put it out somehow.”- She continued, “It was written in a School of Song session led by Courtney Marie Andrews, who prompted us to respond in some way to a beautiful poem called 'You Can't Have It All' by Barbara Ras. This one was also mixed by Alex O'Gorman. We've been playing it on tour lately because it holds the album theme of trusting in the course of failure and rebirth.”
