GIFT Releases New Song “Light Runner”
Brooklyn-based psych-rock band GIFT, consisting of TJ Freda (vocals/guitar), Gabe Camarano (drums), Kallan Campbell (bass), Jessica Gurewitz (multi-instrumentalists) and Justin Hrabovsky (multi-instrumentalists), released a new song “Light Runner” along with a music video on July 24, 2024.
The song is the fourth single off of their upcoming sophomore album “Illuminator”, which is set to be released on August 23, 2024 via Captured Tracks.
The song is inspired by American singer-songwriter Madonna's 1998 album.“Ray Of Light”.
The track was written and produced by TJ Freda, with production by Justin Hrabovsky.
The accompanying video was directed by TJ Freda.
The band vocalist and guitarist TJ Freda said of the song, “The album and song 'Ray Of Light' by Madonna was a massive inspiration while recording Illuminator - I wanted to pay homage to the brilliant music video directed by one of my favorite directors Jonas Åkerlund.”- He continued, “'Light Runner' celebrates the triumph of emerging from a dark time while acknowledging the transformative power of overcoming it. It’s a testament to the euphoria of personal achievement. In 2023, during our first European tour, we were enthralled by the origins of 90s UK bands like Primal Scream, Massive Attack, and Oasis. Following a show in Glasgow, the promoters treated us to an underground Jungle/DnB rave, blowing our minds wide open.”

The new album comprises a 11-track, produced by TJ Freda and Justin Hrabovsky.
TJ Freda said of the album, “We had a lot more confidence going in. The main goal was to take a big swing, embrace the pop sounds we love and clear the mist and clouds surrounding the last record to make it a lot punchier.”
