Alessia Cara Returns With New Song “Dead Man”
Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara returned with a new song “Dead Man” on July 19, 2024.
The song is her first solo music in three years since the 2021 album “In the Meantime”.
The track will appear on her upcoming fourth studio album. Last year, she posted to X that she was working on the new album.
She co-wrote the song with producer Mike Elizondo in Nashville.
The accompanying music video was directed by George Gallardo Kattah.
Alessia Cara said of the song, “I wrote this (with production legend Mike Elizondo in Nashville) about the old familiar feeling of loneliness in a relationship and desperately wanting to hold onto something that doesn't want to be held anymore.”- She continued, “While the brilliant director George Gallardo Kattah and I were discussing the song (and his beautiful initial treatment), we came to the understanding that more often than not, that kind of conflict with someone else is ultimately just a conflict with yourself and your own feelings. Wanting to reflect that sentiment, this video is made up of several vignettes containing metaphors about breaking your own patterns, taking accountability, and finally killing the fabricated idea of a person so—like a two-way mirror—you and reality can come face to face. digging up the old roots and planting new seeds. And the story continues. I hope you love this song and everything to come. I'm so happy to be back!!!!!!”
