  • Tiny Habits Releases Debut Album “All For Something”

  • American folk-pop vocal trio Tiny Habits, consisting of Cinya Khan, Maya Rae and Judah Mayowa, has released their debut album “All For Something” via Mom+Pop.

The album comprises a 12-track, which the trio recorded with producers Tony Berg and Will Maclellan at legendary studio SoundCity in Los Angeles.
The record was written over two years while three members attended Berklee College of Music.
Lyrically, it's a deeply personal through difficult themes such as relationship dynamics and personal identity.

Cinya Khan said, “'All For Something' is finally out and I can't even believe it. I have never made an album before and I couldn't have asked for a more fulfilling experience. Everything about writing and crafting and fleshing these songs out made me a more capable musician as well as a more tuned in person. I learned so much about myself throughout the making of this record and became so much closer to the habs as well, which is a gift I will never be able to comprehend. Tony and Will made our first album experience absolutely unforgettable! I hope every listener feels like part of themselves is somehow in these songs and I hope people hear words they really need to. Although it was hard, although it took a long time, it really was all for SOMETHING.”
  • Judah Mayowa said, “This is the first album I’ve ever been a part of, and I’m so grateful and proud of how it turned out. Each of these songs mean so much to me. Tony and Will, thanks for being such good pals and teaching me so much about life and music. Maya and Cin, thanks for being my best friends and the best bandmates a guy could ever have. Making this album has really taught me so much about each of you and myself. Sooooooooo happy that it’s out in the world!!!”

Maya Rae said, “This album took pretty much 6 full months to make. It took a lot of hard work, a ton of back and forth, and a ton of disagreeing (and ultimately agreeing) with Tony to get to where we are now, but we couldn’t be prouder. These are 12 of our most precious songs and being able to finally share them with the rest of the world feels like such a gift! Lots more to come, but for now I am just so happy to say that our debut album is finally yours. I LOVE MY HABS! I LOVE THIS LIFE! I LOVE ALL OF YOU!”

  • Tiny Habits explained about some tracks for the album.

    “People Always Change” via BLEACHED
Judah Mayowa: “‘People Always Change’ took a few tries to get the song where it is now. We originally had a slightly different melody and set of chords for the song. When we started working on it with Tony Berg, we did a lot of experimenting with different guitar sounds and chord progressions and basically jumbled it all together until it became what it is now. It’s crazy how much a song can change from conception to the final version we share with the world.”

    “The Knocker” via BLEACHED
Cinya Khan: “I actually wrote this song for a songwriting class at Berklee. We had this exercise called “free writing” where someone would say a random word and we would write for an allotted amount of time and then underline any words or phrases that felt interesting enough to be part of a song or in this case, the title of it. I think the word for that one was 'door'. I was in a relationship where I put a lot more effort in than I was receiving. I was literally always going to this person’s house and they would never come to me. It was such a symbolic representation of the dynamic between us. Therefore I was... 'the knocker'. This song took a long time to get right and we went through a lot of versions, constantly adding things and taking things out. We felt satisfied by the end when we sort of simplified things and let the song speak for itself.”

    “Flicker”
“'Flicker' is about the hardships of being in a painful relationship. It's about allowing yourself to be manipulated knowingly, despite the difficulty of being used, in hopes that the situation will somehow, by some delusion, become one of love.”

    “Mudroom” via Teen Vogue
Cinya Khan: “I grew up in suburban New Jersey, and the idea of a mudroom is such a specific feeling to me. It’s autumn and wet boots, and I feel like that’s always been our vibe. I also feel like folk music is intrinsically tied to nature.”

    “Malleable” via BLEACHED
Cinya Khan: “This song means a whole lot to me. I was in a situation where a person would say not-so-kind things under the guise of being honest. I never understood why it was necessary. I would feel so hurt by those things and wish I hadn’t heard them at all because I would fixate on them and allow them to dictate the person I became. ‘Malleable’ is about loving someone or having an attachment to them to the point of changing and disregarding not only your needs, but the entirety of your being to allow the relationship to continue. I think I needed that experience so I could write this song and so I could figure out who I was after so much of me had been dissolved.”

    “I Don't Have The Heart”
“'I Don't Have the Heart,' is about on one's inability to express to another that they are not in a place to continue a relationship that is meant to exist only in the past. The song also touches on the difficulty of creating boundaries and more importantly, sticking to them.”

    “Wishes”
Cinya Khan: “I remember starting this song and thinking it felt unoriginal. I felt like I had already written songs about wanting a different life or a different set of circumstances. But I came to the realization that my experience, while unique to me, was one shared by so many others. When Judah and Maya wrote their verses the song truly came to life. Shared honesty will always be original. And confessional songwriting can be the most potent of all.”

Maya Rae: “I remember when Cin played Wishes for the first time... I've never connected so much to a song. Writing my own verse to this already heart wrenching, emotional, and vulnerable song felt so cathartic and honestly, just so healing. To me, this feels like our most important statement as a band. It's the most honest thing that has come out of the three of us as a unit. As scary as this was, it was a turning point for each of us. We've been waiting a long time to share this with the world, and I feel so incredibly excited and nervous for you all to listen”

Judah Mayowa: “I remember immediately falling in love with Wishes the moment Cin brought it to us. When she asked Maya and I to write our own verses, I was unsure of sharing something so revealing. I truly thought I wasn't going to be able to articulate feelings so vulnerable and personal to myself. But as soon as I sat down and began writing the emotions poured out of me and onto the paper. I couldn't hold back. It was something my physical and spiritual being needed. This song became such a crucial turning point in my song writing. Now, I only want to create honest art and never want to shy away from vulnerability. I hope that this song helps the listener to find the motivation to be honest with themselves and the people they love. While we may feel isolated it is so important to remember you are not alone... and you are not a burden.”
