  • Kimbra Teams Up With Sahtyre for Two New Songs “Demi God” & “Force Field”

  • New York-based New Zealand singer-songwriter Kimbra will release her upcoming fifth studio album “Idols & Vices, Vol. 1” on September 25, 2024.

The album was recorded with several different featured artists including Sahtyre, BANKS, Tommy Raps, Ivy Sole, Fatboi Sharif, Le Asha, DRAM, Dawn Richard, and Taylor Graves.
She plans to release a new song every week until the release of the album.
This time, she teamed up with Los Angeles-based rapper Sahtyre to release two new songs “Demi God” and “Force Field”.
Both songs were written by Cassidy Howell, Kimbra, and Taylor Graves. Produced by Taylor Graves and Kimbra.
The animate music videos for two songs were directed by Greg Sharp.

Kimbra explained, “Last week I released a new song called “Force Field” featuring a good friend of mine and majorly talented rapper, Sahtyre. The song means a lot to me. It's about putting up walls to avoid the injury of Love, but also about learning how to set boundaries; something I haven't been terribly skilled at in my life.”
  • She continued, “Things hurt us along the way and they cause us to shut down. This can lead to animosity, resentment and ultimately a hardening of the heart which makes it difficult to ever Love again. One way to fight against the potential hurt is to create a barrier, a force field of sorts that lets in only the good and rebukes the “bad” energy that our world is so full of.”

She added, “Is it a healthy approach to pain? I don't know. It is sometimes the only thing we can do to protect ourselves. We make commitments like: “From now on, I am looking out for myself only. No more leaking out energy to people who drain me. No more promises to make to anyone.”

  • She shared on social media, “The outro to 'Force Field' is a beat I made over 10 years ago and finally went back to for this flip up. Beat switches are a massive theme on this record. They represent the hyper-stimulation in our digital world. Some of my biggest influences in this realm are Flying Lotus and Dilla. I wanted the scene changes to symbolize the relentless bombardment of the internet - always selling you a new form of stimuli, smashing your brain with sex, scrolling, fear and energy that ain't yours to absorb. I thought how do I achieve this feeling in music?”
