  • Sampha Premieres New Song “Satellite Business 2.0” with Little Simz on BBC Radio 1

  • London-based singer-songwriter Sampha premiered a new song “Satellite Business 2.0” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is a reimagined version of “Satellite Business”, which is featured on his 2023 album “Lahai”.
This time, he teamed up with British rapper Little Simz on the track.
The track was written by Blake Cascoe, Elsa Hackett, Rosetta Carr, Sampha Sisay, Sean Ruthven Nelson, and Simbiatu Abisola Abiola Ajikawo. Produce by Kwake Bass and Sampha.

Sampha said of the song in a statement, “Simz’s music has been close to my heart and ears for sometime now, which makes her being on this song that more special. She’s one of my favorite artists. Her confidence and creative bravery are so refreshing. It’s amazing to see someone giving so much to their art.”

Little Simz added, “I’m so honored to be a part of this record with Sampha. He truly is one of the most important voices in music today. We have great musical chemistry and respect of each other’s process. Glad I got to stand alongside him on this.”
  • Sampha told Jack Saunders about the song, “I was thinking about this, I think my daughter, there's a line in the song that goes through the eyes of my child. I can see it in a vision and she goes, Are you talking about me? And I said, Yes.”

He continued, “I made it like really last minute. And I was like, I really wanted to be on the album because I feel like there's something special about it and it's kind of explaining some of the feelings of the record. So by then I always had these like ideas of like a bass line, and some drums. And luckily enough, I got a chance to kind of expand on it on these like 'Satellite Business'.”

He said of working with Little Simz, “I felt fortunate, because I just I look up to her really and truly, she's such an incredible highest and lyricist and visionary really, and very sort of brave person.”

  • Sampha shared on social media, “Sometimes the perspective of dreams makes things seem more magical and satellite business felt like capturing the escape of a dream into reality. The feeling of feeling energies that I thought were fading..lost to the wind of time now standing infront of me.. like a dream..energies I felt in sliding door slithers of time but now crystallised in song. How lucky we are to be dreaming. This song has evolved from playing it live over the last year and some change taking in the energy that the audiences have given to us on stage guiding it to this current incarnation that I’m so glad to be sharing with you all today.”
