Remi Wolf Releases New Album “Big Ideas”
American singer-songwriter Remi Wolf released her sophomore album “Big Ideas” via Island Records on July 12, 2024.
This marks her first body of work in three years since the 2021 debut album “Juno”.
The album comprises a 13-track, including preceding singles “Cinderella”, “Alone in Miami”, “Toro”, “Motorcycle”, and “Soup”.
On the album, she worked with producers such as Solomonophonic, Kenny Beats, Ethan Gruska, Leon Michels and Porches.
Remi Wolf said of the album, “Big Ideas in essence is my mid 20s coming of age album. It documents all my wild nights, situationships, and jet lagged high highs, low lows and evolving thoughts on my identity and purpose in this world. ALL THE BIG IDEAS!!! Also it sounds sick af and was very fun to make. Please enjoy my children.”- Remi Wolf shared on social media, “I wrote these songs about love, lust, anger, fantasies, harsh realities, vices, low lows, and high highs. And I made them with vulnerability, detail, intuition, and love, with people that I deeply care about. All the big ideas!”
Remi Wolf explained about some tracks for the album.
“Cinderella”
“'Cinderella' is a lyrical collage of the ups and downs and mood swings and transient lifestyle I was experiencing while writing this album. Constant travel and rapid changes led me to feel such a rollercoaster of emotion—moving from feeling really insecure to feeling really good to feeling manic and depressed and then feeling OK again, while desperately craving a grounding figure to tell me I was doing a good job. So, this song was me stepping in as my own fairy godmother telling myself that I was in control.” - “Soup”
“Soup explores my relationship to commitment and follow through. If you ever really wanted to be there for someone fully but ended up getting drunk on a rooftop instead, Soup is for you!”
“Motorcycle”
“Lyrically, the song dives into this internal dichotomy I experience a lot in my life. One side of me is always wanting to slow down and settle down and be in love and be normal and have babies and sh*t, while the other, very forceful part of me needs to be restlessly independent and stubborn and free. The song is essentially a fantasy about me living in a reality where both sides of me can exist simultaneously... Secret lives of the wives of Harley Davidson type.”
“Toro”
“I wrote 'Toro' and 'Alone in Miami' in the same week of sessions and in my mind, they have always been intended to be listened to back to back. I wrote both songs with my friends Ethan Gruska and Jack Demeo in LA in between tours in early 2022. To be frank, 'Toro' is a song about having sex in a hotel.”
“Alone in Miami”
“'Alone in Miami' is a song about the week I spent alone in Miami during Art Basel – and is quite literally a detailed and accurate description of what happened while I was there.” - source : Apple Music
