  • Katie Malco Returns With New Song “Fatal Attraction” featuring Laura Stevenson

  • British indie rock singer-songwriter Katie Malco returned with a new song “Fatal Attraction” on July 10, 2024.

The song is their first music in four years since the 2020 debut album “Failures”.
This time, Katie Malco teamed up with American singer-songwriter Laura Stevenson on the track.
The track was written by Katie Malcolmson and produced by S. T. Manville and Calvin Lauber.
The song is inspired by 1987 erotic thriller films, including “Fatal Attraction” directed by Adrian Lyne, starring Michael Douglas and Glen Close.

Katie Malco said of the song, “I lived alone throughout lockdown and became quite obsessed with erotic thrillers. I have a monthly newsletter where I do a rambling deep dive on a classic / weird movie each month, so I guess I'm into leftfield / cult movies in general. However, the erotic thriller is such a strange genre of movie, and one that could only ever have existed in the era it did. I watched basically every movie starring Michael Douglas, including the most classic of all the erotic thrillers - Fatal Attraction.”
  • They continued, “Strangely, I realised that Fatal Attraction might be one of the most relatable movies I've ever seen. The scariest and most gripping parts are in the intense rage felt at the hands of selfish and careless behaviour and the self-loathing that comes with it. It almost becomes an analogy of society at large, where the men always seem to get away with it, and nobody else does. Boiling bunnies and stalking aside, you could liken Glenn Close's character to the entire non-male population, fighting to be heard and to be equal.”

  • Katie Malco Shared on social media, “A brand-new single is out today. It's called Fatal Attraction (after the movie starring Michael Douglas and Glen Close), and it features the guest vocals of my wonderful friend and touring companion, Laura Stevenson. I watched a lot of erotic thrillers in lockdown and that's when I wrote Fatal Attraction.

I recorded it at home in between tours, and we recorded Laura's beautiful vocals while we were on tour in the states last year. I can't describe to you how much I adore this woman's voice. It's like listening to a bird at dawn.

One day I'll tell you the story of how we stayed up late to record it all but then my hardrive malfunctioned so we had to record it all again the next day...Laura didn't even shout at me and she should have.

I have so much to say about this song but I think in the first instance you should hear it with your own ears and have your own interpretation before I say a damn word.”
