Child Actress Releases New Song “Fruit Flies”
Canadian singer-songwriter Rena Kozak, aka Child Actress released a new song “Fruit Flies” on July 5, 2024.
The song is the first single off of her upcoming EP “Just Fine Never Better”, which is set to be released on September 27, 2024 via Red Spade Records.
The EP comprises a 4-track, which is unreleased songs from the 2023 album “Ancestor Worship”.
The new song came to her three years after her partner died in his sleep next to her.
The track was written by Rena Nicole Kozak and produced by Child Actress.
Rena Kozak said of the song, “The song is about the most deeply painful process I could've ever imagined myself having to undertake, and about the elaborate form of spirituality I found myself using to cope, and yet the sound of the finished product feels triumphant and almost euphoric. For such a dark concept to result in something so full of light is a unique result.”- She shared on social media, I started writing songs for this solo project 12 years ago in the midst of a period of deep, unfathomable grief. I spent a decade slowly producing them, watching them evolve into unexpectedly joyful pop rock releases. After putting most of them out last fall on an album I still had four remaining that kept calling me to finish them to tie up this phase of my life. Fruit Flies is the first single from this upcoming four song EP.”
