Olivia Dean Premieres New Song “Time” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean is back. She premiered a new song “Time” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is her first music since the 2023 debut album “Messy”.
She first performed the song at Eventim Apollo in London last month.
The track was written by Bastian Langebæk, Matt Hales, Max Wolfgang, and Olivia Dean. Produced by Zach Nahome.
Olivia Dean said of the song, “'Time' was born out of the frustrating feeling of not having enough of it. It’s about wanting to be ambitious, experience the world, and do everything while still feeling connected to the ones you love. It’s a real balancing act, especially as a woman. So, the song moves between these two worlds, dreamy and serene, then wild and chaotic, as life often is!”
She added, “It’s pretty much a completely live, one-take of me and my band just playing in a room together as we have been on tour. It feels so different from what I’ve made before, sonically of course, but also in its energy. I’m really excited about that.”- She told Jack Saunders about the song, “It's a different song for me. And I think it's taken me a while to come to terms with what it is. But at the end of the day, it's a song about my life and how it's changed in the past year and me trying to be two people at once be in two places like live my dreams, travel, do all the things I need to do with myself but also have like a life at home and like trying to balance that and it's tough.”
She continued, “And then it's also about finding time for yourself and time to be alone. I'm someone that really needs it to charge up and I just felt like I was just like, whoa, I've only got so many time coins and I don't know where to spend them.” - source : BBC Radio 1
