Olivia O'Brien Releases New EP “love & limerence”
American singer-songwriter Olivia O'Brien released her new EP “love & limerence” on June 21, 2024.
This marks her first body of work in two years since the 2022 mixtape “A Means to An End”.
Also, it is the first release under her own label girlhood records.
The EP comprises a 5-track, produced by Colin Brittain, Day Wave and Gabe Goodman.
She wrote songs while living in Nashville and inspired by her experiences with dating and heartbreak.
Olivia O'Brien said of the EP, “All of these songs chronicle my absolutely awful experiences with romantic love. am i the common denominator? totally. But picking the wrong people makes for great inspiration and great art. I hope you guys love these songs as much as I.”
She added, “limerence - [ li-mer-uhns ] the state of being obsessively infatuated with someone, usually accompanied by delusions of or a desire for an intense romantic relationship with that person. typically unrequited and often directed towards a fantasy of someone rather than the reality of who they are. love - [ luhv ] still trying to figure this one out.”- Olivia O'Brien told Elite Daily about the EP, “I'm a person that gets stuck in limerence a lot. [The EP] is about unrequited love, obsession, and the unattainable side of love. I think that's something a lot of people can relate to, and it's certainly been my experience in dating.”

Olivia O'Brien explained about some tracks for the EP.
“blip”
“'blip' is a song for my fellow delusional people who fell in love with someone they never dated. This song blossomed from a love of the word 'blip' and a poem I wrote about how unrequited love is a lifelong friend of mine. I write songs about loving people who never thought twice about me... so I made another one. This song means so much to me, it's truly the start of a new chapter with many many more songs to come... sooner than you think!”
“glimpse of me”
“'glimpse of me' is a song I wrote almost two years ago in Nashville and it marks the true beginning of me finding my new sound. I wrote this song after writing a 1,391-word letter to an ex that I never sent (thank God!). In the letter, I told him, among many other things, that I felt he never once truly saw me for who I am. He decided who I was the moment we met and no matter how much I grew over the years, I would always remain to him just a concept of a girl that he completely made up. He saw a few fleeting glimpses of me and couldn't be bothered to try and understand. He never knew who I was back then and he sure as hell will never know the woman I am now.
