  • Normani Releases New Song “Candy Paint”

  • American singer-songwriter and former Fifth Harmony, Normani released a new song “Candy Paint” on May 31, 2024, which coincided with her 28th birthday.

The song is used in a dance-themed commercial by BOSE, who will appear it on June 15, 2024 on Bose.com and the brand's social media accounts.
The track is taken from her upcoming debut solo album “DOPAMINE”, which is set to be released on June 14, 2024 via RCA Records.
It was written by Brittany 'Starrah' Hazzard, Jacob Gago, June Nawakii, Keynon 'KC' Moore, LaQuan '302Quan' Hazzard, Normani Hamilton, and Tyler Rohn. Produced by Tommy Brown.

Normani told Billboard about the song, “It's Texas, all the way! I really wanted to create a record that allowed me to show my personality. I feel like there's a misconception; it probably has everything to do with my social media. I think that people think I'm so serious, which is the complete opposite [of me]. Anybody that really knows me knows that I'm really funny. I'm a goofball! I love to twerk. I'm just regular. I really wanted to create a record that encompassed that and allowed my personality to shine. It's a performance record first, which I know my fans have been waiting for, for a very long time. It's fun, energetic, bossy. It's bold. It's sassy but assertive, and yeah, I'm really excited to shoot the music video.”
  • The debut album features guest appearances from Cardi B, James Blake, and Gunna.
She struggled to release the album due to pressure from expectations, delays in the release, and her parents having cancer during the making of the album.

She told Entertainment about the album, "I think I'm just really excited because it's been such a long journey, and not really an easy one. So I'm really just looking forward to a weight being lifted. Obviously I'm excited for people to have the body of work, but I think for me, internally, I'm very, very excited to get a sense of freedom from all of the pressures and the weight that I've carried over the years in regards to trying to get this project out. It was "probably one of the hardest things that I've ever had to do in my life."
  • She continued, "I honestly just feel like it encompasses and represents not only the records that you're going to hear on the project, but also me being the dopamine," she explains. "I feel like it kind of represents everybody every five seconds being like, 'Where's the damn album? We want the music.' So it's representing me being the dopamine hit that everybody's kind of been demanding. And it just sounds really good!"
