Dean Lewis Releases New Song “All I Ever Wanted”
Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis released a new song “All I Ever Wanted” on May 30, 2024.
The song is the follow-up to “The Last Bit Of Us”, which was released back in March.
He wrote the song with Andrew Haas and Ian Franzino, and co-produced with American production duo Afterhrs, and recorded in Los Angeles.
The accompanying music video was directed by Sean Loaney.
Dean Lewis said of the song, “All I Ever Wanted is about when you realise that what you had at the start with someone before things got crazy and blew up was great, and the grass isn’t always greener. The thing that I had with this girl before I pursued my dreams, she was everything I ever wanted, I just didn’t realise it at the time. I needed to go and try and make something of myself, and you get to that place where you realise that she was all I ever wanted, and I wish I could go back.”- Dean Lewis shared on social media, “I was supposed to release this song 9 months ago but I hesitated releasing it... I wrote it about how i was so focused on following my dreams and other things that I didn't realise I had the girl of my dreams right in front of me. I just didn't know it then. I always have been caught in this trap of looking ahead and thinking 'ill be happy when i get there' and that in life, this greener grass will always appear. I realise now thats not always the case. Now it's so difficult to even know real motivations, or to trust. So i wrote this song wishing I could go back to that place.”

He continued, I“ didn’t realise it was too late until I got to where I thought I needed to get too. This place where all my problems would disappear, id be successful and HAPPY, but when i got to that place, I felt more lost than ever and I realised its so much harder to find than genuine connection now.. I thought back and missed that simple love she gave me that was real and there was no ulterior motive; it was just us 2 and i had nothing then, but she still cared about me.” - source : Apple Music
